Putting together a pipette flushing macro

Flushing the pipette tips is a good way to assess that they air bubbles are out of the lines everything is working well. Here are steps on how to build a flushing macro using the “Build Macro” page (introduced here), which will be saved as a custom macro. Generally, the steps involved are as followed:

  1. Move 4-way valves to bypass
  2. Move pipettes to waste station
  3. Move 4-way valves to input
  4. Load multichannel syringes with 500 microliters
  5. Turn on waste pump
  6. Move 4-way valves to output
  7. Dispense 500 microliters
  8. Dry pipette tips
  9. Turn off waste pump

Here is a video that explains how to compile the macro.

Here is the macro code.

//valve-1_1_1_1_1_1_1_1-valvebypass
valve-1_1_1_1_1_1_1_1-bypass
//motion waste station zh 0 row 1 F3000

//valve-1_1_1_1_1_1_1_1-valveinput

//syringe 500 speed 40 acc 20

//waste 2 on

//valve-1_1_1_1_1_1_1_1-valveoutput

//syringe 0 speed 40 acc 20

//valve-1_1_1_1_1_1_1_1-valvebypass
valve-1_1_1_1_1_1_1_1-bypass
//just dry function

//waste 2 off
